Form Finding Strategies for Acoustic Optimization – Integration of Acoustics and Parametric Design

With an academic and professional background in architectural design and construction in Bolivia and the U.S.A, Alvaro specialized in Computational Design within the MID program from 2016 to 2018. Since January 2019, he has been a research associate at the Institute for Design Strategies (former ConstructionLab) at TH OWL, and lecturer at MID. Since 2023, he works part-time at Schüco International KG in Bielefeld, providing consultancy in façade acoustics within the Building Physics team.

The master’s thesis, “Form Finding Strategies for Acoustic Optimization – Integration of Acoustics and Parametric Design” laid the foundation for his ongoing research that evolved into a PhD at TU Delft (Netherlands) entitled “Façades and Urban Soundscape”, which he began in 2021 and is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.
