EXCURSION to Smart Factory Lemgo

Students and professors from the MID 3000 project module recently visited the Smart Factory at the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA and TH OWL in Lemgo for an inspiring excursion. Patrick Spanier (TH OWL) guided the group through numerous innovative projects at the intersection of robotics, AI, computer vision, human-robot collaboration, and human-enhancing robotics.

The visit provided excellent insights into current research and cooperation projects at TH-OWL and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA in Lemgo. “Since many of our students are developing similar projects in these fields, the excursion offered valuable insights, contacts, and inspiration for their own work,” says Prof. Hans Sachs, Director of the MID specialization in Computational Design.

The students were highly motivated and engaged actively with various robotic systems and installations on site. Looking ahead, we aim to expand collaborations between our program and the Institute for Design Strategies (IDS) to advance IT and technological development, particularly in AI and robotics within the context of construction and the emerging Center for Sustainable and Digital Construction in Detmold.
