Advanced Representation Techniques (Vertiefung Darstellungstechniken)
SS 2022
In the second semester students develop their Architectural Representation skills addressing the intersections of form, style, structure, and communication through a ‘DigiLog’ approach.
Task 1
To gain a basic understanding of the software, the students are tasked to 3D-model an espresso pot using Rhinoceros 3D. Based on the digital model the students additionally build a physical paper model, further exploring the object´s underlying structure.
Task 2
The students then focus on an object of their choice with both simple and curved surfaces. Observing and understanding it´s shape and geometry the students are tasked to create another 3D-model.
The next step aims to transform the 3D-modelled object from before into an imaginative architecture, altering the object into a “space hub”.
Task 3
As the last assignment the students are tasked to create a “foldfolio”. The emphasis is on visualising the structure and it´s surroundings, using different digital tools (Affinity Photo, Photoshop, etc.) as well as analogue tools, such as hand-drawn sketches. This poster should not only contain the final visualisations and model but also process pictures and sketches showing the development of the model and design. Additionally, the students develop their own folding pattern to transform their posters into interactive layouts (foldfolios).
